You and Me All Alone

words & music by Michael F. K. Phelan

copyright 2025 TwoThirty Music

Where are we going?  I only wish I knew which way is home

And how did we get here?  It’s you and me all alone

There’s nothing but night time, I can’t even see any towns on the side

But we’ve got to keep driving, it looks like we’re in for a ride

Walter can make it, there’s half a tank of gas and he’s raring to go

He seems to be shaking, he says we’re moving slow

But we’re doing like sixty, and that’s not enough to get us from here

And time is a-wasting:  midnight’s getting near

And when I think of how the night was spent in such a place,

It makes me wonder:

Why do we deserve this being stranded, in the middle of the night?

The highway is endless. We could be in Spain, and we wouldn’t know

I can’t see nobody: it’s you and me all alone

The party is over.  Everybody’s gone, we’ve missed all the fun

We’re later and later, it’s almost a quarter to one

And where are we going?  I only wish I knew which way is home

And how did we get here?  It’s you and me all alone
